Guardian Anti-Blog Traditions?

June 12, 2006

A quick, stand to be corrected post about the Guardian's comment is free, the paper's group blog. I find I can't click on the name of people who leave comments to go to their sites. This is hardly in the spirit of blogging.

Podcast vs The Channels

June 12, 2006

Pod Tech  the internet channel for technology news, brought to you from Silicon Valley, went Nova when Robert Scoble announced he would join from Microsoft.

Scoble, for those not in the know on techie issues, is one of the most influential bloggers in industry based solely on opening Microsoft up to the outside world.

The Scoble story apart though Pod Tech is a great channel idea and in principle illustrates the proposition that podcasting done properly is a challenge to IP TV.

Podtech "is a producer, aggregator, and distributor of professional podcast content for audiences worldwide." There's some great ideas here. We'll see how it plays out.

Affluent TV

June 12, 2006

I picked this up on Paid Content, news of a new channel, this time for affluent youg people in the New York, New Hamptons area.

Designer Philip Treacy told me recently that we’re moving towards a more glamorous era, which suggests more of this is inevitable in the multi-channel future.

Core TV bills itself as a privileged lifestyle intelligence channel and I have to say it looks good and the topics (upscale men’s spas, slow cooking, wine, chich clothing, nightspots) – none of it surprises and that might turn out to be its weakness. Chic urbanites want to know what’s going on beyond the curve.

Right now it covers the New York lifestyle scene but opens up for Miami and L.A. soon. You can imagine the London, Paris, Dublin, Madrid, Manchester wannabee media enterpreneurs lining up for this one.
